Featured Position: Director of Global Initiatives
Responsibilities:
The Director of Global Initiatives is responsible for the raising of private philanthropic funds in support of the Institute from individual donors who are capable of making significant gifts. The Director is responsible for setting and implementing strategies for market development, donor development, volunteer management, and resource allocation.
Serve as the primary advocate for the Office of Global Initiatives. Grow and strengthen MIT’s relationship with alumni, parents, friends and organizations. Develop and implement strategies for maximizing fundraising opportunities to meet monetary goals and goals for specific priorities. Solicit gifts from individuals, alone or in combination with volunteers, senior officers, deans and/or other representatives of the Institute. Be familiar with and articulate about the Institute. Be knowledgeable about the fund-raising priorities, ways of giving, the donor development process and management of volunteers.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced education is strongly desired. Eight or more years of fund-raising experience at the Institute or other educational organization preferred, especially at the principal gift level. Must be articulate and have well proven human relations and communications skills. Knowledge of foreign language and international experience a plus. Willingness to travel for extensive periods of time, particularly to Asia.
Must have demonstrated capacity to deal effectively, with poise and confidence, with potentially large benefactors of the Institute. Must have proven track record of soliciting major gifts from individuals. Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
