Chris Toro

Chris Toro oversees the offices of Leadership Giving, Planned Giving, and Special Constituencies at MIT. Her team raises a wide range of gifts, from annual to principal, from MIT alumni and helped secure $1B toward the $6.24B raised in the MIT Campaign for a Better World.

Prior to MIT, Toro served as director of development at Boston College, where she advanced fundraising priorities for the college and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the Carroll School of Management. From 2002 to 2005, she was a senior major gifts officer at MIT during its $2B Campaign for MIT and focused on the New York metro area. Previously, Toro worked in direct marketing with Brann USA in Chicago and in sales of consumer and commercial payment products with Visa USA Inc. and Fleet Financial Group.

Toro served on the CASE District I Board from 2018 to 2020. Additionally, she received an MIT Excellence Award, Bringing Out the Best: Everyday Leadership Throughout MIT, in 2021. Toro earned an AB in European history and German from Wheaton College (MA).
