Kurt Hinrichsen

Kurt Hinrichsen joined MIT in 2024 with over 26 years of impressive fundraising experience. Through strategic leadership, fundraising expertise, and the design of total philanthropic programs, he leads a dynamic team that works to raise and steward gifts for key priorities and initiatives across MIT, with a focus on nonalumni friends and corporations.

Prior to joining MIT, Hinrichsen was the foundation president and chief philanthropy officer for the Providence Saint Joseph Foundation, Los Angeles South Bay. Additional institutions in which Hinrichsen led advancement initiatives include Rutgers University, the University of Southern California, the University of Florida, the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. As a consultant, Hinrichsen advised the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Palomar Health, part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

Hinrichsen has been part of the leadership group of four successful, comprehensive fundraising campaigns that had goals ranging from $1B to over $6B. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and has a bachelor’s degree in education and a Master of Science in corporate/public communication.
