We are collaborative, accountable, proactive, and strategic in our work to advance MIT’s mission. The Office of Resource Development comprises various teams that contribute to a variety of fundraising initiatives.

Individual Giving

Leadership Giving

The Office of Individual Giving (OIG) qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards predominantly MIT alumni and non-alumni parents capable of making gifts of $100K and above. The group’s fundraising efforts are driven by the work of individual relationship managers and rely on strong collaborations with MIT’s schools and the MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing, the MIT Alumni Association (reunions and class giving), and partnerships with MIT senior leaders. OIG coordinates regional donor cultivation events and non-presidential senior officer travel. Volunteer management collaboration with members of the MIT Corporation Development Committee round out OIG’s work.

gift planning

The Office of Gift Planning (OGP) is responsible for managing the administration of gifts made through MIT that provide income, including charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, pooled income funds, and bequests. The office also oversees the MIT Donor-Advised Fund, Trusts and Estates Settlement, and Illiquid Gifts.

OGP works closely with the Office of Individual Giving, the Office of Philanthropic Partnerships, and the MIT Alumni Association to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned gifts. The Katharine Dexter McCormick (1904) Society honors individuals who support MIT’s mission through bequests, life-income funds, and other planned gift arrangements. OGP produces Corridor, a biannual newsletter providing insights into planned giving strategies that can help donors meet financial goals while supporting MIT’s mission. Additionally, the group manages the Memorial Gifts and Special Constituencies programs
